Red Mars (Mars Trilogy, 1)
Kim Stanley Robinson
Read:
This is an extremely ambitious book that does not fully achieve all it sets out to. It does a great job of imagining what the colonization of Mars might look like, both from a technological and a societal perspective. However, it sometimes suffers plot-wise by, for example, not always having a good protagonist to follow. It does not help that it kills some of the most compelling characters.
