Turn Right at Machu Picchu Rediscovering the Lost City One Step at a Time
Mark Adams
Read:
Light, pleasant read covering some Peruvian history in the Incan and early Spanish period, the “discovery” of Machu Picchu by Bingham and a modern day investigation of why the site was built in the first place, all told through the perspective of a (not so) clueless American.
It won’t make you an expert in any of the topics it covers, but it’s a nice way of learning the basics of all of them. It definitely made my visit to Machu Picchu more enjoyable.
