The Promised Land

Danish epic about one man’s efforts to make a name for himself by taming land. Just about everything goes wrong, and in any case he eventually realizes the real achievement is the friends we make along the way. I was surprised at how lawless everything was, given this was set in the 18th century. But I suppose if you get enough distance from civilization, anywhere and anytime can be lawless.
