The Odyssey

Watched this one on IMAX, as one should. I loved it! I have only very high-level, pop-culture-trickle-down knowledge of the Iliad, never having read it. In other words, I knew about the cyclops and the pigs, was not really aware of the connections to Bronze Age collapse. Which is in a sense good! It means some of what the second half of the movie was building towards was not obvious to me until the end; unexpected for a film based on one of the most-told stories ever. It also makes me wonder why Nolan picked this particular story to tell… One could tell many stories about that!

A great addition to Nolan’s corpus, but probably not my favorite.
